A message from the CCPPP Executive
on Computer Matching

Updated 2002-01-09

Computer matching of applicants with internship positions continues to be used by the Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers (APPIC). Internship programs which are members of APPIC are required to participate in the computer matching program.  CCPPP strongly encourages those of its member internships  which are not APPIC members also to participate in the match program.  All CCPPP members, who are not APPIC members, are eligible to participate in the APPIC match as non-members.  Programs that are not members of CCPPP and/or APPIC will be eligible to participate in the APPIC Match for a maximum of two years as non-members.  More detailed information about the APPIC Computer Match is available on the APPIC web site (www.appic.org). Information about the match is also available on the National Service web site (www.natmatch.com/psychint).

Information for Students who are not Matched

Following the release of the match results in February, National Matching Service will post a listing of all remaining available internship positions.  This listing will remain on their web site for ten days.    APPIC also an e-mail Clearinghouse which is available to all participants in the match.  Information with regard to the APPIC Clearinghouse is available on the APPIC web site.  All match participants are allowed to access the APPIC Clearinghouse.

This year CCPPP will not be operating its own clearinghouse.  However, following the match, the current president of CCPPP will be available as a resource person for any unmatched students and their training directors. Contact information for the president is available on the Executive Council page.

The success of the match process in Canada will be ensured if all internship programs participate.  We would appreciate it if you could pass this information along to internship programs in your region that may not be CCPPP or APPIC members, so that everyone is informed about the process.
