Becoming a Member of CCPPP
Applications are welcome for membership in the Canadian
Council of Professional Psychology Programs (CCPPP). CCPPP
is a collegial organization that represents the various university-based
professional psychology programs and psychology internship
settings in Canada that train professional psychologists such
as clinical psychologists, counselling psychologists, and
clinical neuropsychologists, as well as other branches of
professional psychology.
The goals of CCPPP include:
- Fostering communication among its members related to
professional psychology training.
- Promoting high standards of training through the development
and implementation of policies that are conducive to such
standards.
- Representing matters of interest to other interested
and affected groups and organizations, and to coordinate
the implementation of services of the Council in both official
languages.
- Advocating issues of concern to members of the Council.
- Establishing and maintaining bylaws and dues as necessary
for the achievement of the Councils’ goals.
The CCPPP does not accredit programs. However, the organization
encourages members to aspire towards the training standards
of organizations such as:
Benefits of membership include:
- Inclusion in and receipt of the annual CCPPP Membership
Directory in which all member programs’ training directors
are listed, along with detailed information about internship
programs. (This directory facilitates training directors
communication and is also a useful resource for academic
programs’ students when they are applying for internship.)
- Listing on the CCPPP website (www.ccppp.ca), with links
to member programs’ websites.
- Access to a members-only, training director listserv for
consultation on issues relevant to professional psychology
training.
- Annual receipt of two CCPPP newsletters that address issues
relevant to training.
- An annual, training-focused workshop at CPA, subsidized
by CCPPP.
- Eligibility to participate in the APPIC computer match
for predoctoral internships who are not APPIC members (note
the fee for the APPIC match itself is still required).
- Presidential consultation to students requiring assistance
with APPIC Clearinghouse utilization, when they have not
achieved an internship match.
Eligibility for membership:
Professional psychology programs offer didactic and experiential
education and training in psychology that qualifies their
graduates to provide psychological services to the general
public, in areas such as health and human development.
Any Canadian university-based academic program or Canadian
internship program in Clinical Psychology, Counselling Psychology,
Clinical Neuropsychology, or School Psychology will be considered.
We will also review applications from programs in other substantive
or emerging areas of professional psychology where the program
makes a convincing argument of their appropriateness for membership
in a professional psychology training organization (e.g.,
supporting publications are referenced).
Procedures for applying for membership:
Applications for membership shall be directed to the President.
For contact information, please see the Executive
Council page.
Written applications should include two copies of
the following:

Upon receipt of a complete application:
- The application will be reviewed at the next meeting
of the Executive Committee to determine the program’s eligibility
for membership.
- Candidates who are accepted will receive a letter from
the President of the Executive, welcoming them to the organization.
Rejected applicants will also receive a letter, including
reasons for the decision. They are welcome to appeal the

of fees in each subsequent year.
- The current annual membership fee is $175.00.
