Description of Position: The Clinical Neuropsychology Service (CNS) at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton (SJHH), McMaster University is pleased to announce a position for 1 neuropsychology postdoctoral fellowship opening for the 2-year 2022-2024 academic cycle. This individual will join our current first year fellow.

Our service provides consultation, assessment and intervention to a wide range of adult inpatient and outpatient populations within the context of an academic healthcare and hospital setting. The fellow will work with adult and geriatric patients with neurological diseases and disorders, complex psychiatric disorders, dementia, and general medical conditions through a number of rotations and through facilitating group intervention programming. Participation in weekly structured rounds and didactics (e.g., Psychiatry Grand Rounds, Mental Health and Addiction Rounds, Joint Geriatric-Neuropsych didactics, and other hospital service clinic rounds) and team-based research is expected.

The SJHH postdoctoral program in Clinical Neuropsychology provides access to multidisciplinary medical education and training opportunities that include didactics and direct patient contact, as well as interactions with other residents in medical specialties and allied health professions. Competence and understanding of ethical standards and professional practice relevant to cultural and individual differences and diversity in the practice of psychology and neuropsychology are emphasized.

Faculty: The program exists within the SJHH Mental Health and Addictions Program and is affiliated with McMaster University Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences. Most of the faculty supervisors have joint appointments. The CNS includes 5 core neuropsychologists, 2 affiliated neuropsychologists, 2 psychometrists, 2 postdoctoral fellows, a neuropsychology resident and graduate practicum learners.

Setting: Nestled along the shores of Hamilton Harbour adjacent to the Niagara Escarpment, the City of Hamilton is home to several cultural, recreational landmarks, and conservation areas. In addition, Hamilton is about 45 minutes from Toronto, a large cosmopolitan city with nearly 3 million residents and a wide array of sports, entertainment, shopping and dining experiences. Benefits/Salary: Salary is competitive at $50,000, with an additional percentage in lieu of benefits (about 14%, or $7,000 annually), and 15 paid personal/educational days annually. Healthcare benefits are provided to everyone through the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP).
