TERM ASSISTANT TEACHING PROFESSOR IN CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY
The University of New Brunswick (UNB), Department of Psychology, Fredericton invites applications for a 3-year 0.6 FTE Full-Time Equivalent Term Assistant Teaching Professor in Clinical Psychology at the Psychological Wellness Centre (PWC) effective July 1, 2026. The PWC is the Department of Psychology’s in-house training clinic providing training opportunities in assessment and therapy for Clinical Psychology PhD students. The PWC offers low-cost services to UNB students and the wider Fredericton community. This position is subject to final budgetary approval.

The salary range and fringe benefits for this position is defined in the Association of University of New Brunswick Teachers (AUNBT) 2022 - 2025 Collective Agreement sections 35 and 36B.

The Assistant Teaching Professor will be the Director of an exciting, newly created pre-doctoral internship in school and clinical psychology housed at the PWC and in New Brunswick schools. The internship was created through a partnership between UNB and the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development. The Assistant Teaching Professor will be responsible for administrative management of the internship, supervision of interns at the PWC, and liaising with internship supervisors and partners. In addition, the position involves providing evidence-based supervision to first-, second-, and third-year Clinical Psychology PhD students completing practicum placements at the PWC.

The ideal candidate will have child/adolescent-focused clinical training, experience, and interests and be able to supervise trainees in child/adolescent assessment (psychoeducational) and child/adolescent therapy. Other clinical interests relevant to the provision of community mental health services (e.g., experience in group therapy) would be an asset. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is excited about teaching and training the next generation of clinical psychologists.

The successful candidate will have a PhD in Clinical Psychology, be registered (or eligible for licensing) with the College of Psychologists of New Brunswick, show strong evidence of effectiveness in evidence-based clinical supervision, and be committed to the scientist-practitioner model.

The Department of Psychology in Fredericton has BA and BSc majors and honours programs as well as PhD programs in Psychology and Clinical Psychology (CPA accredited). Candidates must have earned a PhD in Clinical Psychology from a clinical psychology program accredited by the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA), American Psychological Association (APA), or equivalent by the date of appointment, or shortly thereafter, and must be registered or eligible for registration with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario. The ideal candidate will have clinical training and experience aligned with evidence-based approaches to psychological assessment and intervention. A minimum of three years of experience providing clinical services is required, including experience in clinical supervision of adult clients.

Candidates must have a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching in degree granting program, including some combination of lecture preparation and delivery, curriculum development, and/or development of online material/lectures. We seek candidates whose teaching interests complement and enhance our existing departmental strengths. Additionally, candidates must possess a demonstrated commitment to excellent pedagogical inquiry and a demonstrated interest in teaching-related scholarly activities. The successful candidate must also have a demonstrated record of excellence in clinically supervising graduate students and/or other learners. Experience in managing or contributing to the leadership of an outpatient psychology clinic is highly desirable, as is a strong record of collaborative engagement in clinical training, program development, and community partnerships.

Evidence of excellence in teaching and clinical supervision and a commitment to excellent pedagogical inquiry can be demonstrated through teaching and clinical supervision accomplishments, awards and accolades, presentations at significant conferences, the teaching dossier submitted as part of the application (with required materials outlined below) as well as strong letters of reference.

Health Psychologist - Liver Transplant Program

The Transplant and Regenerative Medicine Center (TRMC) provides specialist care for children under 18 years of age who have undergone solid organ transplantation and who have intestinal failure (Group of Intestinal Failure and Treatment). We are the largest pediatric liver transplant program in Canada performing 25-40 liver transplants per year in children who come from across the country for this life-saving intervention. Our program has a successful and enduring partnership with the Live Liver Donor program at the University Health Network, which is reflected by over 50% of our transplants now done with an organ from a living donor. With long-term survival after liver transplantation in children now the rule rather than the exception, a broader holistic lens to the multi-dimensional health for the transplant survivor is now the focus of all teams providing care for these patients.The median age of the child requiring liver transplantation is under 2 years, and post-transplant care continues until 18 years.

The psychologist within the SickKids Pediatric Liver Transplant program will assess, diagnose, monitor, and treat behavioral and socio-emotional problems in all pediatric transplant survivors within the Liver Transplant program (inpatients and outpatients). The role includes a focus on psychoeducational interventions and psychotherapeutic treatments to support children and families, adjustment to new diagnoses and post-transplant protocols, surveillance of at-risk comorbidities in a child now on life-long immunosuppression, promoting healthy behavior and compliance, enhancing coping, reducing distress, as well as caregiver mental health and coping. This could take place within a traditional individual therapeutic setting, through caregiver support or a therapeutic group setting. The SickKids Healthy Living Clinic (formerly known as the SickKids Team Obesity Management Program, STOMP) provides outpatient interdisciplinary assessment and treatment to children, youth, and their caregivers for complex concerns related to weight, eating, activity, and related medical and psychological comorbidities. The team is comprised of enthusiastic specialists from Psychology, Social Work, Nursing, Endocrinology, Adolescent Medicine, Pediatrics, Nutrition, Exercise, and Physiotherapy.

Mental health providers on the team are integral in the assessment and treatment of complex and often severe health psychology presentations that include emotional eating, hyperphagia (secondary to hypothalamic obesity), binge eating, and adherence issues, as well as related co-morbid psychological issues such as social anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, bullying, school refusal and body image concerns. Additional socioeconomic, genetic, and familial/interpersonal relationship factors have a particularly strong impact on treatment and prognosis. The Centre for Complex Diabetes Care (CCDC) provides evidence‑based interdisciplinary medical, nutritional and psychosocial services to adults and seniors living with diabetes and other chronic health conditions. Intensive case management is provided until a patient is able to self‑manage their conditions with support from primary care or other services.

Reporting to the Manager, Centre for Complex Diabetes Care, the Psychologist works within an interdisciplinary team, collaborating with physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, dietitians, social workers, physical therapists, and occupational therapists. Within the team, the psychologist offers conceptualization of patients' presenting concerns through a biopsychosocial model to enhance the quality of patient care and to improve clinical outcomes. The BC OSI Clinic in Victoria (yes, beautiful Victoria!) is looking to add a permanent, full-time Psychologist to their multidisciplinary team specialized in providing assessment, treatment and community outreach to veterans, active service members, and RCMP members.

This is a unionized position within Vancouver Coastal Health that comes with a competitive benefits package and pension plan for eligible employees. The BC OSI network includes over 50 mental health clinicians from three sites: Vancouver, Victoria and Comox. The multidisciplinary team consists of Psychology, Psychiatry, Nursing, Social Work and Clinical Counsellors. Weekly, multidisciplinary rounds occur remotely for an integrated team approach with clinicians from all three sites.

We offer clinical services for trauma and related disorders and other mental health conditions from an evidence-based framework in a multidisciplinary setting. The BC OSI Clinic is a rich training environment for new doctoral graduates. The clinic offers intensive training in Cognitive Processing Therapy and Prolonged Exposure Therapy with the goal of supporting you in becoming certified (“preferred provider”) in these modalities.
