Lakehead University, Thunder Bay Campus, invites applications for one limited-term appointment (2-year) in the Faculty of Health and Behavioural Sciences, Department of Psychology. The position will commence on September 1, 2022. The teaching duties for this position consist of six undergraduate one-semester courses distributed over 2 or 3 academic semesters. Two of these courses can be the instruction of the 4th year thesis course and mentorship of undergraduate thesis students. There may be limited opportunities for graduate-level teaching, for qualified candidates.

The successful candidate will:

  1. Hold a doctorate degree in psychology before starting the position;
  2. Show evidence of an active research program in psychology
  3. Demonstrate commitment to teaching at the undergraduate levels 
  4. We are particularly seeking candidates with the ability to teach any of the following courses:
    1. Statistics, Social psychology, Advanced Social Psychology, Personality, Health Psychology, Cultural Psychology, Behavioural Neuroscience, Adult Disorders, History of Psychology, Emotions and Motivation, Learning, Animal Behaviour, Addiction Processes, Indigenous Mental Health
    2. Experience with experiential learning and online or alternative modes of delivery is highly desired.
  5. Demonstrate commitment to research and scholarship by providing evidence of peer-reviewed academic publications, academic conference presentations, and/or knowledge translation activities;
  6. Demonstrate capacity to provide effective research supervision at the undergraduate level

The Department of Psychology is located at the Thunder Bay campus. The Department offers arts and science undergraduate programs, graduate programs in Psychological Science (MSc and PhD), MA Clinical Psychology, and CPA-accredited PhD Clinical Psychology programs.
