"The Department of Psychosocial Oncology and Rehabilitation (Tom Baker Cancer Centre, Calgary Alberta) and the Division of Psychosocial Oncology (Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary) are recruiting a Clinical Academic Fellow for the 2024-25 academic year. This opportunity is for advanced interdisciplinary professionals (i.e. completing doctoral training, medical training, or are fully licensed) seeking one year of specialized experience in Psychosocial Oncology.

Within Cancer Care Alberta (CCA), Psychosocial Oncology services are provided by a team of interdisciplinary professionals dedicated to enhancing the quality of life of those affected by cancer. This team provides expert care at any stage of the cancer experience, including diagnosis, treatment, survivorship, and end-of-life. The Department of Psychosocial Oncology provides clinical assessment and intervention in individual, couples, family, and group modalities in a rich team environment and is a leader in world-class research. This one-year Fellowship program includes clinical, research, and education activities in the field of Psychosocial Oncology. The program is tailored to the candidate’s areas of interest and competency development. Examples of clinical activities include Sexual Health in Oncology, Palliative Care, Hematology and Stem-Cell Transplant, the Managing Cancer and Living Meaningfully (CALM) intervention, and others. Training includes tumour-specific learning (e.g. lung cancer, breast cancer) and delivery of group-based interventions (e.g., Supportive Expressive Group Intervention). The Fellow will gain experience working with interdisciplinary teams, providing consultation, building professional networks in oncology, and potentially providing supervision. Research mentorship and support is provided through the Division of Psychosocial Oncology, Department of Oncology, University of Calgary.
