Your Opportunity:

Reporting to the Program manager of NW Campus, we are seeking a Psychologist II with a particularly strong clinical psychology and background in anxiety disorders to join our Anxiety Disorders Clinic at FMC Unit 24. The Anxiety Disorders Clinic services clients within the Calgary Zone that suffer from a moderate to severe primary anxiety disorder. This includes OCD, Agoraphobia, Social Anxiety Disorder, Illness Anxiety Disorder, Trichotillomania and Panic disorder. The successful candidate will provide services to the Addictions & Mental Health Adult psychiatry outpatient population within the Calgary zone. Services will include psychosocial therapy-based management of complex and treatment refractory clients, comprehensive evaluation and diagnostic clarification/refinement, facilitating groups and consultation to other outpatient clinics. The incumbent will also provide clinical supervision of staff and doctoral psychology students and residents. Consultation, collegial guidance mentorship and coaching in relation to complex clinical cases, ethical considerations and areas of clinical expertise. They will also ensure practice aligns and models advanced psychology clinical practice that is evidence based and in alignment with psychology standards of practice, code of ethics, policy legislation and regulations.

Description:

As a Psychologist II, you will provide advanced clinical services (including psychological assessment, diagnosis and/or intervention), consultation and education to the interprofessional team and patients/families, and/or provides clinical leadership and coordination in an assigned program area. This is an advanced level psychology position that will allow you to work with or within teams to provide and inform services for patients with complex and multi-dimensional medical, psychological, interpersonal, environmental and/or instrumental needs. You will consult, collaborate, and enact initiatives to ensure that practices are evidence based and in alignment with psychology standards of practice and code of ethics, as well as policy, legislation and regulations. You will be expected to lead, facilitate and/or participate in program, policy, and procedure development, service planning, staff development, quality improvement and evaluation, and/or research activities as identified by the needs of the service area(s). You may provide supervision to doctoral level psychology residents, master's level interns, provisional psychologists, psychometrists and other team members.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of doctoral degree in Psychology in an applied area relevant to the practice setting from a Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) or American Psychological Association (APA) program. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Active or eligible for registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum of 2 years clinical experience working with anxiety disorders. Experience working in a hospital or outpatient setting (within the last 2 years). Recent experience in psychotherapy/counselling with patients and families. Demonstrated ability to function independently within a patient/family-centred environment. Experience in group facilitation and ability to organize and set priorities. Effective self-management skills and demonstrated initiative. Above average communication skills as well as the ability to work closely in a collaborative team both within the Allied Health service as well as within the program teams. Ability to establish positive working relationships with a wide variety of patients and families. Demonstrated ability to provide clinical service within a continually changing health care environment. Training and experience in formal psychological assessment. Must be able to sit or stand for up to 2 hours.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with initiating and completing projects.
