Unit SummaryThe B3-North Neurobehavioural Program is a Provincial Program responding to the needs of individuals with ABI who display challenging behavioural and/or mental health issues. Such issues often result in socially unacceptable behaviours that prevent participation in conventional rehabilitation programs. Behavioural difficulties may manifest as behaviours of excess or as an absence of behaviour, such as, lack of motivation, lack of initiation or difficulties with compliance. The B3-North Neurobehavioural Program provides a transdisciplinary rehabilitation program that addresses cognitive and physical needs in conjunction with a concurrent behaviour management program. The transdisciplinary team consists of Physiatry, Neuropsychiatry, Behavioural Psychology, Neuropsychology, Behaviour Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Speech Language Pathology, Nursing, Dietitians, Social Work, Recreation Therapy and Rehabilitation Therapy.

Position Summary: As a member of a multi-disciplinary health care team, the Neuropsychologist will provide direct cognitive and psychological assessment as well as treatment services for Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) patients in an inpatient rehabilitation setting. The Neuropsychologist will work with and supervise the unit Psychometrist as well as Rehabilitation Therapists helping to implement various treatment programs. The Neuropsychologist will provide consultation to other health care professionals, team members, families and patients regarding diagnosis and treatment strategies. The Neuropsychologist will provide consultation to the inpatient team, assist in developing related treatment programs for patients, and work with families and external agencies in a liaison role to also facilitate implementation of related strategies. The Neuropsychologist will provide supervision to staff and other learners including involvement in Hamilton Health Sciences accredited Neuropsychology Internship Program. 

Schedule Work Hours Monday to Friday days

Qualifications:

1. Ph.D. in psychology with a strong background in biological psychology and/or neurosciences 
2. Registered or eligible for registration with the College of Psychologists in Ontario and have licence/capacity to conduct assessments and individual counselling and treatment. 
3. Previous experience in conducting cognitive-behavioural and behavioural approaches to the treatment of psychological disorders and rehabilitation 
4. Experience in preparing applications to granting agencies (includes scholarships and research grants) 
5. Experience conducting fee for service Neuropsychological assessment and treatment. 
6. Knowledge of both battery and process approaches to neuropsychological assessment and interpretation 
7. Ability to apply principles of behaviour modification 
8. Ability to supervise staff including behaviour therapists, psychometrists, and rehabilitation therapists 
9. Eligible for a part-time faculty appointment with the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences at McMaster University 
10. Excellent leadership, teaching and written and oral communication skills
