CHEO, The Royal, Youth Services Bureau and Le CAP are partnering to develop a community based live-in treatment unit to address the needs of youth and their families who are experiencing complex and persistent mental health and psychosocial issues. The Step Up Step Down Program will offer interdisciplinary live-in care in a community setting with the goal of averting hospital admissions, facilitating shorter hospital inpatient stays or preventing placement breakdown. The goal of the program is to address the existing gap in recovery focused live-in treatment services for youth 12-17 years. The Psychologist will be part of the interdisciplinary and interagency team.
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Provide clinical consultation to the interdisciplinary team for the purpose of individual treatment planning and delivery and milieu planning
- Support in the delivery of mental health care delivered by the interdisciplinary team
- Provide comprehensive psychological assessment, with a focus on diagnostic formulation as well as short term interventions.
- Provide psychological treatment (individual and group) using evidence-based approaches Assist interdisciplinary team with decision making regarding risk management for youth with internalizing and externalizing mental health issues
- Liaise with community psychologists and other health care professionals
- Provide supervision/training to pre-doctoral psychology interns and offer learning opportunities to other student professionals in training.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings.
- Perform administrative tasks such as maintaining clinical documentation, progress notes, workload statistics and updating health records in accordance with established standards.
- Coverage for Clinical Director as needed
- Participate in and support clinical research activities with the inter-professional team members.
