    SickKids - Neuropsychologist PhD, Access to Neuropsychological Care for High-Risk Outpatient Referrals (ANCHOR) Clinic (0.6 - 0.8 FTE, 2-years contract)

    The Department of Psychology at the Hospital for Sick Children is currently looking for a Neuropsychologist who will assess, diagnose, and monitor cognitive, behavioural, and socio-emotional functioning of children with complex medical diagnoses. This position will support the newly developed ANCHOR clinic (Access to Neuropsychological Care for High-Risk Outpatient Referrals), a general neuropsychology clinic, located within the Department of Psychology. Responsibilities associated with this role will align with the ANCHOR clinic's mission to expand equitable access to neuropsychological care for children and families who have historically encountered barriers to service, while enhancing outcomes for children with complex medical needs.

    The Neuropsychologist will work primarily with school-age children and adolescents (3-18 years old) who are followed by eligible medical clinics at SickKids and are presenting with a variety of conditions that affect brain and child development, including but not limited to infectious diseases (e.g., congenital cytomegalovirus), auto-immune and neuroinflammatory diseases (e.g., lupus), craniofacial conditions (e.g., cleft lip/palate), neurological and neurogenetic conditions, and other congenital conditions.

    • Work within a fast-paced environment; efficiently manage, triage, and assess a varied caseload under specific required timelines with a child and family centred approach.
    • Design and carry out consultations, screening, targeted, and comprehensive neuropsychological assessments, following a tiered/stepped model of care, in order to relate current cognitive, behavioural, and social-emotional functioning to a child's neurodevelopmental and medical/neurological histories
    • Excel in communicating and documenting assessment results and recommendations within a diversity, Equity, and Inclusivity lens through a patient and family centered approach to care.  
    • Work collaboratively and professionally to support patient care as a member of the interdisciplinary health care team.
    • Actively engage and consult with the interdisciplinary team to discuss and explore Initiative programs and improvements for the psychology department and neurosurgery clinic.
    • Mentor practicum students, residents, and post-doctoral fellows.
    • Integrate research and clinical practice to ensure ethical, evidence-informed patient care.
    • Work within the Hybrid model of care (Virtual/Onsite).
    • Supervise clinical and research trainees.

    Here's What You'll Need

    • A Ph.D. in Clinical or Neuropsychology from a CPA or APA accredited program or equivalent.
    • Registration or eligibility for registration with the College of Psychologists and Behavioural Analysts of Ontario, with competency in Clinical Paediatric Neuropsychology.
    • Post-doctoral training in Neuropsychology. Preference will be given to candidates who are Board Certified or Board eligible through the American Board of Professional Psychology ABPP-CN.
    • Strong proficiency in paediatric neuropsychological assessment and diagnosis of children and adolescents age 3-18.
    • Superior judgement, tact, and diplomacy in interacting with a diverse population.
    • Exceptional interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.

    CHEO, The Royal, Youth Services Bureau and Le CAP are partnering to develop a community based live-in treatment unit to address the needs of youth and their families who are experiencing complex and persistent mental health and psychosocial issues. The Step Up Step Down Program will offer interdisciplinary live-in care in a community setting with the goal of averting hospital admissions, facilitating shorter hospital inpatient stays or preventing placement breakdown. The goal of the program is to address the existing gap in recovery focused live-in treatment services for youth 12-17 years. The Psychologist will be part of the interdisciplinary and interagency team.

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    • Provide clinical consultation to the interdisciplinary team for the purpose of individual treatment planning and delivery and milieu planning
    • Support in the delivery of mental health care delivered by the interdisciplinary team
    • Provide comprehensive psychological assessment, with a focus on diagnostic formulation as well as short term interventions.
    • Provide psychological treatment (individual and group) using evidence-based approaches Assist interdisciplinary team with decision making regarding risk management for youth with internalizing and externalizing mental health issues
    • Liaise with community psychologists and other health care professionals
    • Provide supervision/training to pre-doctoral psychology interns and offer learning opportunities to other student professionals in training.
    • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings.
    • Perform administrative tasks such as maintaining clinical documentation, progress notes, workload statistics and updating health records in accordance with established standards.

    Psychologist PhD, Health Psychology Service (1.0 FTE, 1-year contract)

    The SickKids Psychology department has recently initiated a general Health Psychology Service (HPS). HPS Health Psychologists assess, diagnose, and treat behavioural and socio-emotional problems in children seen medically across the hospital on an outpatient basis. The role includes a focus on psychological treatments and caregiver coaching that supports adjustment to and coping with new or chronic health conditions and treatment protocols, promote healthy behaviour and treatment compliance, procedural anxiety, and reduce psychological distress related to their medical condition. HPS psychologists work in collaboration with medical and psychosocial teams across the hospital to enhance patient health and well-being and reduce the burden of care on medical teams in the process. 

    Here's What You'll Get To Do:

    • Conduct psychological consultations and screenings, as well as comprehensive diagnostic assessments to evaluate a child's psychological and social-emotional functioning in the context of their chronic health challenges.  
    • Provide assessment feedback and recommendations to patients, families, and interdisciplinary medical providers to support diagnosis, treatment planning, and ongoing care. 
    • Deliver evidence-based psychological intervention to patients and families, in both individual and group formats, and collaborate with medical teams through consultation on treatment progress and care planning.  
    • Provide ongoing correspondence updating intervention progress and relevant recommendations to medical teams. 
    • Collaborate with team members in the Health Psychology Service, as well as other colleagues with relevant expertise, to ensure care is delivered at the cutting edge of pediatric psychology practice. 
    • Consult and collaborate with medical and other professional staff in medical clinics to enhance the health and well-being of our patients and their families. 
    • Provide consultation to school teams and other health, community and educational professionals, promoting collaboration and comprehensive support for the child. 
    • Enhance the medical team's ability to address the psychosocial needs of the child and their family by complementing and expanding existing services. 
    • Work independently and collaboratively as a valued member of multiple interdisciplinary teams. 
    • Participate in clinical research, identify questions and gaps in knowledge for health psychology interventions, contribute to clinic development initiatives, and engage in quality improvement projects. 
    • Provide supervision and mentorships to trainees. 

    Here's What You'll Need:

    • Completion of a CPA/APA recognized Ph.D. degree program in Clinical or Health Psychology with a pediatric/developmental focus. 
    • Minimum two (2) years related experience in a paediatric health psychology setting. Experience working in a hospital environment and, in particular, a general Health Psychology Service - is a strong asset. 
    • Registered, or eligible for registration, with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario for autonomous practice. 
    • A declared and approved health psychology competency as part of registration with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario (or initiated retraining plan). 
    • Experience delivering CBT and ACT, with additional training and experience in Motivational Interviewing, crisis intervention and other therapeutic modalities (e.g. DBT,  EFFT).

    The Royal (located in Ottawa, ON) is a Network Lead Organization for the provincially funded Ontario Structured Psychotherapy (OSP) program in Ontario East. Our mandate is to improve access to effective mental health care for Ontarians. Our program has specific objectives for providing culturally safe and competent care to equity-deserving populations.

    Duties:

    • Participate in the provision of a provincial training curriculum in CBT for the OSP program to community and hospital-based therapists within our region and provincially
    • Provide individual and group clinical consultation to registered mental health therapists
    • Conduct clinical assessment and diagnostic interviews to determine suitability for the OSP program
    • Interpret standardized psychological assessment instruments
    • Practice Measurement Based Care to inform treatment decisions, enhance client outcomes and support quality improvement initiatives
    • Use case conceptualization to design individualized treatment plans based on client needs
    • Ensure services are culturally safe and appropriate
    • Provide training and consultation to OSP clinicians on adapting CBT practice to meet the needs of diverse communities while adhering to CBT principles.

    • Work in a manner that is in compliance with staff and patient/client safety practices, policies and procedures of The Royal.
    • Ensure a work environment that is conducive to The Royal’s Anti-Racism, Harassment & Discrimination Free policy.

    Qualifications:

    • Doctorate from a CPA/APA Accredited Psychology Program.
    • Registered or eligible for registration with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario.
    • Authorized area of practice in Clinical Psychology mandatory. Authorized client population in adults is mandatory.
    • Mandatory clinical experience in the diagnosis and treatment of anxiety disorders, mood disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder, Illness anxiety disorder and posttraumatic stress disorder using evidence-based CBT approaches.
    • Clinical experience in the diagnosis and treatment of substance use disorders is an asset
    • Experience delivering CBT and Relevant CBT protocols within the OSP program is an asset
    • Mandatory experience in provision of training in CBT and clinical consultation and supervision
    • Demonstrated training in, understanding, and provision of culturally safe and competent care to equity-deserving populations, including LGBTQ2S+ and gender affirming care, anti-racist care, and care that is sensitive and responsive to diverse ethnic or cultural backgrounds
    • Experience working with, advocating for, and/or increasing access to care for equity deserving community members.
    • Experience working in an interdisciplinary service delivery model is mandatory.
    • Knowledge of applicable legislated Acts (i.e. MHA, PHIPA, The Health Care Consent Act).
    • Knowledge of psychiatric rehabilitation principles and practices
    • Excellent leadership and communication skills and ability to establish and maintain good working relations
    • Commitment to Continuous Quality Improvement, Best Practices and Team Work
    • Valid G driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
    • Effective mentoring and clinical supervision skills to support both the academic role and the clinical practice of other team members.
    • English level A- is mandatory in oral comprehension, expression, reading, and writing. Bilingual (French/English) is considered an asset.

    Salary Range: 61.50 to 79.75 per hour

    TERM ASSISTANT TEACHING PROFESSOR IN CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY
    The University of New Brunswick (UNB), Department of Psychology, Fredericton invites applications for a 3-year 0.6 FTE Full-Time Equivalent Term Assistant Teaching Professor in Clinical Psychology at the Psychological Wellness Centre (PWC) effective July 1, 2026. The PWC is the Department of Psychology’s in-house training clinic providing training opportunities in assessment and therapy for Clinical Psychology PhD students. The PWC offers low-cost services to UNB students and the wider Fredericton community. This position is subject to final budgetary approval.

    The salary range and fringe benefits for this position is defined in the Association of University of New Brunswick Teachers (AUNBT) 2022 - 2025 Collective Agreement sections 35 and 36B.

    The Assistant Teaching Professor will be the Director of an exciting, newly created pre-doctoral internship in school and clinical psychology housed at the PWC and in New Brunswick schools. The internship was created through a partnership between UNB and the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development. The Assistant Teaching Professor will be responsible for administrative management of the internship, supervision of interns at the PWC, and liaising with internship supervisors and partners. In addition, the position involves providing evidence-based supervision to first-, second-, and third-year Clinical Psychology PhD students completing practicum placements at the PWC.

    The ideal candidate will have child/adolescent-focused clinical training, experience, and interests and be able to supervise trainees in child/adolescent assessment (psychoeducational) and child/adolescent therapy. Other clinical interests relevant to the provision of community mental health services (e.g., experience in group therapy) would be an asset. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is excited about teaching and training the next generation of clinical psychologists.

    The successful candidate will have a PhD in Clinical Psychology, be registered (or eligible for licensing) with the College of Psychologists of New Brunswick, show strong evidence of effectiveness in evidence-based clinical supervision, and be committed to the scientist-practitioner model.

    The Department of Psychology in Fredericton has BA and BSc majors and honours programs as well as PhD programs in Psychology and Clinical Psychology (CPA accredited).
